However, while Dawn prepares for the Pokémon contest in Lilypad City, with Cyndaquil battling Ash's Grotle (and Piplup stealing Cyndaquil's poffin and getting into a fight), Lyra loses her Marill, which seems to have gone towards Valley Windworks. The group immediately heads to Windworks, but Magnemite suddenly appears and attacks. They then find Marill in the storage room in the basement, only to get locked in there. After several unsuccessful attempts to open the locked door, Ash and his friends are finally freed when Pikachu unlocks it using Thunderbolt on Team Rocket and restoring power to Windworks. After finding Lyra's Marill, Ash and his friends are confronted by Team Rocket and their enormous Magcargo Cannon, but Pikachu saves the day using Thunderbolt. (Piplup pushes Cyndaquil aside and gets into another fight.)
